Jesus did not send His disciples to preach the Gospel in their own strength. Instead, He told them to wait in Jerusalem until they were filled with the Holy Spirit. Why? Because without the Spirit, they had no power to witness, no boldness to face persecution, and no guidance to fulfill God’s mission.

Even today, believers need the power of the Holy Spirit to live a victorious Christian life, to share the Gospel, and to stand firm in a sinful world.

1. The Holy Spirit gives boldness to witness

• The disciples were fearful before Pentecost, but after being filled with the Spirit, Peter boldly preached and 3,000 were saved (Acts 2:41).
• The Spirit turns ordinary people into powerful witnesses of Jesus.
• Without Him, we remain silent; with Him, we speak with courage.

2. The Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts

• 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 – The Spirit gives gifts like wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, tongues, and interpretation.
• These gifts are not for pride, but for the edification of the church and for spreading the Gospel.
• Every believer has at least one spiritual gift given by the Spirit.

3. The Holy Spirit guides us into truth

• John 16:13 – “When He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth.”
• The Spirit teaches us, convicts us of sin, and leads us in God’s will.
• Without His guidance, we easily fall into error and deception.

Imagine trying to run a car without fuel. The car may look beautiful, but it cannot move without power. In the same way, a Christian without the Holy Spirit has no strength to move forward in God’s mission. The Spirit is the fuel that empowers us to live and serve effectively.
