Christianity is not about religion, rituals, or traditions. It is about a life transformation. When a person accepts Jesus Christ, he does not simply change his name, his dress, or his place of worship. He becomes a new creation. His sins are forgiven, his past is wiped away, and he begins a new journey of holiness and righteousness.
Being “in Christ” means living with a new identity, a new purpose, and a new destiny.
1. The old self must die
- Romans 6:6 – “Our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be done away with.”
- The old sinful habits, addictions, pride, and worldly desires must be put to death.
- Salvation is not partial reform; it is complete transformation from the inside out.
2. The new self must be put on
- Ephesians 4:24 – “Put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
- New life means living with Christ’s character: love, purity, forgiveness, humility, and holiness.
- The new life is not lived in our own strength, but by the power of the Holy Spirit.
3. Live as light and salt in the world
- Matthew 5:14-16 – “You are the light of the world… You are the salt of the earth.”
- The world must see Christ in us. Our lifestyle should reflect God’s glory.
- We are called to influence the world, not be influenced by it.
A caterpillar transforms into a butterfly. It doesn’t just improve itself; it becomes a completely new creature with a new nature. In the same way, when we are in Christ, we don’t just “improve” our old life—we become a new creation with a new identity.
Conclusion
- In Christ, the old life is gone and the new life has begun.
- This is not just religion; it is true transformation.
- God calls us to live as holy, righteous people who shine as light and act as salt in this world.
